Bruce Springsteen: Is He Reactivating the E Street Band?

It doesn’t take much to cause some buzz on E Street as evident with a new report that has some thinking a new album from Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band could be on the way.

Per Asbury Park Press, producer Ron Aniello, who’s been working with The Boss on his studio work since 2012, shared via his Instagram Stories on August 21 a video of a pending storm along with a message that just said, “It’s coming…”

Now, this could literally be nothing but Aniello talking about an actual storm that was on the way, but it’s no secret that Springsteen fans have a hungry heart for new music. His last album, Western Stars, was released in June 2019 and was a Springsteen solo LP. The album wasn’t supported with a tour, but it was given the cinematic treatment with a concert film, also titled Western Stars, which was released in October 2019.

Springsteen said on two different occasions in May 2019 that a new album and tour with the E Street Band was planned for 2020. The first time was at a Netflix event where he took part in a conversation with director Martin Scorsese, and the second time was when he told Italian newspaper Repubblica, “We will go on tour next year. I’ll record with the E Street Band in the autumn and when we are done, we’ll go on tour.”

Of course, those plans were likely derailed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, so let’s all remain hopeful for 2021.
