EU-Korea digital trade agreement on the way

At the 13th EU–South Korea Trade Committee, co-chaired by European Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security Maroš Šefčovič and Korean Minister for Trade Yeo Han-koo, both sides took an important step forward in their partnership.

They held their first Strategic Dialogue on Trade, Supply Chain and Technology and endorsed the final text for the Digital Trade Agreement (DTA). Signature is expected at the EU-Korea Summit 2026.

Why does this Strategic Dialogue matter?

It will strengthen cooperation on key challenges, from economic security to critical raw materials , and from advanced tech supply chain protection to battery cooperation. It also opens the door to a EU–Korea Future Strategic Partnership, reinforcing collaboration between like-minded partners in an increasingly complex global landscape.

This shows, once again, that we want to remain an open and reliable economy, ready to work with trusted partners worldwide while reducing dependencies on third-country suppliers🌍
