Swedish Customs needs new legislation to fight organized transnational crime

The Director General of Swedish Customs Charlotte Svensson, wrotes today in the largest Swedish morning newspaper that Customs needs new legisaltion to fight organized international transborder crime.

Today, the Swedish Customs does not have the legislation needed to be able to act effectively against organized crime, according to the DG.

The already complicated legal regulation has over time become too old, not enough relevant and increasingly difficult to apply.

Swedish Customs wants to see a broad review of the legislation governing the responsibilities of Customs.
