AEO MEA signed digitally between Brazil and Peru

Yesterday, when the Peruvian Revenue and Customs celebrated 247 years as a customs agency, the day was also used to announce an AEO Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) between Peru and Brazil. A great achievement.

The MRA between the two countries was signed digitally, the first in the world, and means that companies with Authorised Economic Operator status in one country also are acknowledged by the other, same for controls that should not ne duplicated – all in line with the interantional standards from World Customs Organization.

The Directors Generals of the two customs administrations Marilu Haydee Llerena Aybar from Sunat and Fausto Vieira Coutinho from Receita Federal met online and digned the MRA digitally.

This is great progress, congratulations to both administrations and countries.

I am very happy with development, especially since I have cmose ties to both countries, and have been advisor to the administrations on their reform and modernization journeys.
