Today it is the longest day of the year and Sweden celebrates is main holiday, Midsummer.

A country stops for the traditional celebration of summer. The Maypole and summer flowers are obligatory features.
Food is important and always the same, different kinds of pickled herring, boiled new potatoes with fresh dill, soured cream and chives. This is often followed by a grilled dish of some kind, such as spare rib or salmon, and for dessert, a cake richly adorned with the first strawberries of summer.
The midsummer smorgasboard is naturally accompanied by beer and many shots of vodka.
This is our day, for many people the most important day of the year.
Happy Midsummer!
